I have been practicing yoga since 2013. My personal practice began exclusively on the mat and was very solitary. Initially, I used yoga as means to escape and insulate myself against the difficult and uncomfortable circumstances of an overwhelming and stressful family life.
It was not until the winter of 2016 that I began practicing yoga with community in a local yoga studio.
My decision to join community in the study of yoga was pivotal in the development of my practice. The internal depths I traveled to and the wilderness I witnessed there was awesome, and I knew at that point that I wanted to take my practice further. In the winter of 2018, the perfect opportunity arose for me to take my 200hr RYT training and study Kundalini and Hatha yoga.
Since the 200hr training, my interests and trainings have since expanded into Yoga Nidra and Trauma Informed Yoga.
It is through the practice of yoga that I have learned when to be firm and when to soften, when to hold on and when to let go, when to be receptive and when to assert my boundaries. These lessons are not linear; learned once and then forever overcome. These lessons are cyclic; learned, forgotten, and relearned. The process is extremely humbling and the more frequently we practice, the more humility we carry with us through these experiences.
It is through the harmonization of self study, discipline, and surrender that I find these lessons within myself.
I wish to share these valuable teachings with my community.
